The title of the dissertation by Jan Dzwonkowski, MSc., Master Mariner was: "The Kinematic Method of Determining Safe Parameters of Bends on Fairways".

The title of the dissertation by Piotr Durajczyk, MSc. was: "The Probabilistic Analysis of a System for Transporting Containers in Two Layers along the Odra Waterway with the Use of RIS".
An international project entitled "A Pan-European Network for Marine Renewable Energy with a Focus on Wave Energy", filed as a part of the COST programme, has obtained an approval. This is a networking action connecting over 100 participants from 25 countries.

Maritime University of Szczecin got the European patent EP2504719 "A method and system of navigational decision support in the process of safe vessel navigation" granted by the European Patent Office.
In the period 19-23 February 2018, the fifth session of the Sub -Committee on Navigation, Communication and Search and Rescue (NCSR) of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) was held in London.
In the period 22-26 January 2018, the first of this year's meetings of the technical sub-committee of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) was held in London - the fifth session of the Sub-Committee on Ship Design and Construction (SDC 5). The members of the Polish delegation included (except for the permanent representative of Poland in IMO) two employees of Maritime Universities: Zbigniew Szozda, PhD. Eng. of the Faculty of Navigation of the Maritime University of Szczecin and Przemysław Krata, PhD. Eng. of the Faculty of Navigation of the Gdynia Maritime University.
In the period 9-13.11.2017, students of the "METIRI" Scientific Association of Geodesy and Cartography in cooperation with the "EQUATOR" Geodetic Scientific Association (University of Life Sciences in Lublin) performed measurements of the "Dziura" Cave in the Tatra National Park (TNP) with the ground laser scanning technology.
We are pleased to inform that our quarterly, the Scientific Journals of the Maritime University of Szczecin, has been indexed in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection Emerging Sources Citation Index Backfile database (ESCI Backfile) – an archive of the ESCI database where the SJ were included in the previous year.
A new maritime publication edited by Professor Stanisław Gucma, PhD. Eng. Master Mariner is to be issued already at the beginning of the next year. The book is entitled "Marine Traffic Engineering - guidelines for designing marine waterways and ports as well as conditions for their safe operation”.
