The Focus3D is a high-speed 3D laser scanner for detailed measurement and documentation. The Focus3D uses laser technology to produce incredibly detailed three-dimensional images of complex environments and geometries in only a few minutes. Focus3D is equipped in touch screen to handle scan functions and parameters. Scan results consist of millions of colored three-dimensional measuring points which give an exact digital copy of the status quo.

Caris software for electronic navigational charts is composed of three independent modules Which allow for full processing and control of both bathymetric and topographic data to create a fully functional map cells in S-57 ENC, AML, IENC or BENC format.

Trimble R6 GPS system consists of three integral parts:

  • Trimble R6 receiver - technologically advanced receiver with antenna, battery and radio-modem in one housing;
  • Trimble TSC2 recorder, putting the controller in one mobile vault along with the receiver allows the system to minimize weight and increase its reliability;

Inland ECDIS is a system for the display of electronic inland navigation charts and additional information. It is a core of RIS and a base for other river information services. The standard describes what information and in which way may be displayed on the electronic chart reducing the workload for a ship navigator while displaying all gathered information eg. position of the vessel, current water level, navigational hazards. It contributes to safety and efficiency of inland navigation and thus also to protection of the environment.

The miniSVP is a cost effective tool for the collection of Sound Velocity Profiles without compromising the quality of data. It is ideally suited to ROV, costal or small boat applications for survey companies, military and academics being easy to handle, simple to use and featuring the most accurate SV sensor in the world.

The R4 AIS from Saab TransponderTech is a fully IMO-compliant, fourth generation transponder system, selected by a vast number of Commercial Shipping, Coast Guard and Navy customers world-wide.

Side Scan Sonar System 4125 Edgetech has been designed both for deep and shallow waters operations. Sonar 4125 uses technology that provides higher image resolution up to 50% compared with sonars without CHIRP technology working on the same frequency. This translates into more accurate and faster measurements, thereby reducing costs.

Stationary-scanning MS-1000 sonar is high frequency unit developed by Kongsberg. The sonar has the ability to work as: side sonar (mounted on the mast at the side of the boat), submerged (on a steel tripod) and as for underwater inspection of the walls (using a rack for horizontal scanning).

Simrad EA400P is a portable dual-channel hydrographic echosounder developed for the professional environment hydrographers containing the latest technical innovations. The sounder can work with normal electrical supply or standard car battery. It requires very little power.

GeoAcoustics GeoSwath Plus offers very efficient simultaneous swath bathymetry and side scan seabed mapping with accuracies that have been shown to exceed the IHO Standards for Hydrographic Surveys.

Hydrograf XXI is a cabin boat made of plastic with reinforced underwater parts (two layers of fiberglass cloth). It has standard equipment for inland navigation and the hybrid propulsion - electric and combustion engine. Therefore it is allowed to operate on protected waters or "lakes of silence".

Laboratory of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (lab 05 Żołnierska Street 46):
The basic premise of the laboratory is confronting advanced commercial software and the increasingly popular Open Source solutions. As a result, students gain practical knowledge not only "how to do", but in many cases can also see "how it works".

Hydrographic classes cover the knowledge of hydrographic measurements, especially:

  • underwater acoustic`s parameters: sound speed velocity dependencies, measurements and computations;
  • hydrographic equipment presentation: singlebeam echosounder Simrad EA400, interferometry bathymetric system Kongsberg GS+, side scan sonar Edgetech 4125, scanning sonar Kongsberg MS1000, sound velocity profile ValeportMiniSVP and underwater remote operating vehicle;
  • designing and conducting hydrographic measurements;
  • pre- and post processing of the data.

Geographic information systems – GIS are rapidly developing tools dedicated to store, process and manage spatial data. Influenced by methods from geodesy, cartography and computer science, GIS joins knowledge from all these fields, offering to user wide range of possibilities for geospatial analysis and visualization of their results. User friendliness of software, together with satisfactory visualization possibilities are the reason for continuous expansion of applications and growing interest of society in various branches of life and economy.
