An audit of the maritime education system is meant to indicate whether seamen educated in Poland will be able to work for Japanese ship operators. To this end, the Maritime University of Szczecin has opened its doors to auditors from Japan, i.e. Mr Setsuo Nomura, the representative of Japan Maritime Centre - Japanese organisation working for the benefit of development of the maritime sector and captain Osamu Takeshita from Mitsui OSK Lines – the largest Japanese ship operator.

The Safety Forum 2016 devoted to unmanned air and marine systems was held on 14.10.2016 in Szczecin. The State Maritime School was located in the building in Wały Chrobrego Street in the years 1963-72. A stone commemorating this fact was officially unveiled on Saturday morning, right before the Inauguration Ceremony of the academic year at the Maritime University of Szczecin.
The Polish Steamship Company will test samples of fuels for its vessels in the Centre for Fuel and Pressure Fluid Testing and Environmental Protection of the Maritime University of Szczecin. The agreement between the ship operator and the university was signed on Wednesday, 28th September 2016 by the General Director of Polish Steamship Company, Paweł Szynkaruk and the Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin, Wojciech Ślączka.
The Choir of the Maritime University of Szczecin conducted by Sylwia Fabiańczyk-Makuch took part, last week (13-18.09), in the 6th International Choral Competition "CANÇÒ MEDITERRÀNIA" in Lloret de Mar/Barcelona. The Szczecin ensemble, following a fierce fight, won the highest distinctions: three Gold Diplomas in the categories of sacred, folklore and pop music.
