Institute of Geoinformatics is one of four institutes of the Faculty of Navigation Maritime University, who in the course of his organizes and conducts research and teaching in the field of geodesy, cartography, geoinformatics and land-based measurements. The institute consists of two departemnts: Department of Geodesy and Hydrography and the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics.
The Institute has a highly qualified research and teaching, including staff privileges geodesic, thus ensuring a high level of training.

Institute of Geoinformatics has custody over the direction of substantive Geodesy and Cartography and specialty objects specialist Hydrographic Surveying and marking Navigation.

The direction of Geodesy and Cartography education to hundreds of students in both full-time and part-time. The aim of engineering studies is to develop highly qualified personnel for the institutions and companies involved in the execution of the tasks of the wider geodesy and cartography. The study program consists of seven semesters of classes in which they are carried out, in particular, specialty items and directional. During the entire period of study the student is four-week internship. The knowledge acquired by graduates allows it to operate in the field of geodesy, cartography, land information systems and the use of modern techniques of surveying, satellite, photogrammetry and remote sensing.
