The Faculty Recruitment Commission announces the enrollment at the WIET Faculty for the 2nd degree of regular and extramural studies of the field of TRANSPORT, course of Integrated Transport Systems, for the academic year 2010/2011.

Akademia Morska, Akademia Morska w SzczecinieThe Faculty of Navigation of the Maritime University of Szczecin and the Faculty of Mining and Geo-engineering of AGH University of Science and Technology of Krakow are just launching education in the field of maritime mining. According to the agreement, the AGH shall provide instruction concerning mining while the MU will deal with navigation, vessel traffic and safety procedures at sea.
Prof. Antoni Tajduś, Rector of AGH: ”I am very happy about the next agreement between AGH and MU of Szczecin. We are having  model cooperation, hoping that our common innovative project shall hit the target, meeting students’ interest and the needs of maritime and mining industry professional specialists as well as employers’.    
Our schedule covers the following:
  • Organizing international conferences on maritime mining both in Krakow and Szczecin,
  • Launching new specialties in the basic fields (navigation –at the MU and mining – at the AGH) called by their working name: exploration of the sea bottom natural resources,
  • Launching common post – graduate studies preparing both universities’ graduates for their work in maritime mining industry,
  • Realization of common research projects and setting up research teams for maritime mining,
  • Eventually, launching new studies in the common macro - field of maritime mining;
Akademia Morska, Akademia Morska w SzczecinieOn 23.10.2010, at the Go – Carting Race track at Wojska Polskiego, the 1st Go – Carting University Championships of the West Pomeranian Province, organized by KU AZS of the University of Szczecin as well as the OŚ of Szczecin, was held. The contestants raced in three categories: student, team and as university authority category, which revealed that the best one appeared the representative of the MU authorities- the Vice dean of the Faculty of Marine Engineering, Piotr Treichel, PhD.
Akademia Morska, Akademia Morska w SzczecinieFor the first time the Marine Rescue Training Center of the Maritime University of Szczecin has conducted a specialist training of fire fighting protection for Bridgestone Company Ltd. from Japan.
The training program covered:
  1. Sources of fire and its spreading
  2. Fighting small fires by means of manual fire fighting equipment, inside water-hoses and other fire brigade equipment.
  3. Operating equipment for air passages protection and basic rescue team equipment
  4. Cooperation with outside rescue services in reference to passing on indispensable information about the fire location, types of stored substances, gear and installations.
  5. Practical training – team actions and fire fighting;
  6. Smoke chamber practical training;
This type of training shall significantly improve safety of the conducted operations, at the same time mastering the already possessed skills of the Bridgestone Company workers.
We kindly inform that the Archbishop Szczecińsko-Kamieński Andrzej Dzięga set up a new office – University Chaplaincy. Its objective is social work e.g. pastoral help to student community members in various life situations, coordinating pastoral activity with significant university events as well as passing information about the possibilities of joining university chaplaincy on the territory of the Szczecińsko-Kamieńska Archdiocese. The Maritime University of Szczecin chaplain has been appointed Rev. Marcin Młodawski, MA.
The basic objective of „LNG Transport and Terminal Operation” studies is instructing and preparing the staff of engineers for the work on transport, machinery, re-gasification systems, storage and LNG transfer related positions. Its main focus is to equip the students with knowledge and skills concerning e.g. fundamentals of cryogenics, physics/chemistry of liquefied gases, heat exchangers, industrial automation, net gas and LNG transport as well as technological processes connected with LNG industry in its broad sense and safe terminal operation.
The studies are meant for university graduates, specializing or intending to specialize in the subject of on – shore LNG transport and on – shore LNG discharge terminals.
The studies are arranged by the Faculty of Marine Engineering of the MU of Szczecin at the cooperation of the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas (AGH University of Science and Technology of Krakow) with  the Faculty of Marine Engineering of Szczecin as the leading unit.

Post graduate studies start in February 2011 and last till the end of February 2012.
Organization, number of hours and the form of classes – evening, weekend
The studies cover 210 hours of lectures, classes and laboratory classes held twice a month (Friday after 14.00 and Saturday) in the classrooms and laboratories of the Maritime University of Szczecin. 3 sessions are expected to be carried out in Krakow at the AGH University of Science and Technology of Krakow).
NOTICE! Trip, accommodation and catering will be covered by the students themselves.  
Akademia Morska, Akademia Morska w SzczecinieThe choir of the Maritime University of Szczecin directed by Sylwia Fabiańczyk – Makuch became the first prize winner at the 13th International Religious Music Festival named after Rev. Stanisław Ormiński in Rumia. The festival is one of the most important contests of this type in the north of Poland. This year the event held in the NMP Church in Rumia from 14 -16.10.2010, consisted of two contests – the organ and choir music. 17 choirs from Poland, Czech and Russia, which passed the qualifications, were divided into two categories.

 He MU choir performed 5 songs: „Prayer to Bogurodzica” by J. Świder, „The Sea Psalm 107” by M. Jasiński, (dedicated to the Szczecin choir and its conductor), „Salve Regina” by L. Jansson, „Soon I Will Be Done” W. L. Dawson and a Kashubian song about the sea entitled „Bote ju jida” by J. Stachurski and E. Pryczkowski. The jury consisting of 7 people highly estimated the skills of the Szczecin choir and its conductor. The final note comprised the assessment of: intonation, dynamics, rhythm, repertoire and the general artistic impression. The choir was awarded with the first prize both in its category, and for the best performance of the Kashubian song. This year it’s the consecutive success of the MU choir, since in September they got the Grand Prix at the Choir Tournament in Chełmno.
Akademia Morska, Akademia Morska w SzczecinieOn 13.10.2010, it is the 59th training carried out for Bernhard Schulte Ship-management by Marine Rescue training Center, meant for both deck and engine staff. The objective of the courses organized by OSRM since 2007 is to increase ships’ crews safety and decision making process while evacuation in distress situations. During the courses trainees get instructed about the proper conduct when getting into the boat, which seats to occupy and what safety measures to comply with in order to maintain the launched boat stability.

Akademia Morska, Akademia Morska w SzczecinieThis year, third year students of the Sea Fishery had their fishing practice on the m/t Franek Zubrzycki III, owned by the Complex of Marine Schools in Darlowo. Marek Gorzynski, MSc took the tutorial responsibility for the students while their voyage from 06.09.-02.10.2010. Signed up, the students had to comply with onboard regulations while going through the deck and engine room practice according to the curriculum assumptions.
Poland is the leader of a flag project “Create a network of centers of excellence for maritime training” (creating nets of certified centers of excellence for integrated maritime training) realized within the framework of the Strategy for the Southern Baltic Region.
The project objective is to increase safety at sea and unify high European standards of maritime training conducted by centers of excellence for maritime training. Realization of the project will provide young people with:
  • the highest standard of maritime education conducted by certified maritime training centers meeting the requirements of ”centre of excellence”,
  •  high level of acquired skills and education enabling the students competitive position on the job market
  • unified ways of testing maritime competence
  • possibility of pursuing marine and on-shore career,
  • perspectives for long lasting career in maritime economy professions;
